Florida Probate Court - Lee County Probate Court
Lee County of Florida holds its own Clerk of Circuit Court, with a specific division functioning for the administration of estates in their county. Any decedent who was domiciled in Lee County, or who owned real property in Lee County, will need their estate probated in the at their individual probate court. A decedent's assets will be distributed to those specified in the Will, or of there is no Will, then according to the Florida Probate Rules.
Lee County is located in Southwest Florida, and is bordered by Charlotte, Glades, Collier and Hendry Counties. It was the 41st County to be named in Florida. It was established in the year 1887, and named after General Robert E. Lee of the Civil War.
Known for its beautiful islands and high tourism traffic, Lee County brings in approximately 1.7 million visitors every year. Lee County is the most populated County in Southwest Florida, with a population of 440,888 in 2000; and it is consistently growing. It consists of thirteen different islands, and several cities.
